Howard Leon Stacy, age 73, died peacefully on February 20, 2022, surrounded by his wife, brother, children, and grandchildren. Howard was born in Princeton, MO., on March 12, 1948, to Howard and Dixie Boggs. He was later adopted by Willis Stacy and Dixie Stacy. Howard is preceded in death by his parents.

Howard graduated from Gresham Union High School in 1966 and joined the Marine Corps after he served from 1967 until 1971 and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he attended Mount Hood Community College in Portland, OR., where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.

With his new-founded degree, Howard accepted a job for the Los Alamos National Laboratory and moved in 1977, where he analyzed the use of explosive to obtain measurements of particle velocity and co-authored numerous research publications and attended many symposiums with the LANL. He retired in 2005.

Howard and I were married in the church on February 14, 2003, by Father Charlie Brown and Father John Carney. He was a devout member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, as well as the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s by the Sea Parish, Rockaway, OR., Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, Villanueva, NM. He loved to go fishing, camping, farming, planting large gardens, canning, and freezing his own produce.

Howard loved visiting Nehalem, OR., where his mother resided, and he spent months doing whatever projects she needed done and visited with family. After, this precious time with his mother, he returned to Los Alamos and El Cerrito, NM., for Estefanita also had projects to do working on house or planting the garden.

Howard has a truly unique heart and loved his family deeply and completely. He would do anything for his family regardless of whether blood bound them or not. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, his great-granddaughter, with a powerful love that never wavered. You would be hard-pressed to find a better man and human being. He remains forever in his children’s hearts and as someone to aspire to. we could not have been luckier that to have him in our lives.

Howard is survived by his wife Estefanita of 37 years, daughters Darlene Starling (Tim Lykins); Frances Stacy-Sandoval, sons Thomas Harvey. Michael Harvey, Christopher Stacy (Linda), Jay Sandoval, his grandchildren, Anthony Harvey, Jayden Harvey, Gabriel Starling-Lykins, Cecilia Stacy, great-grandchildren, Jordan Sandoval and Isaiah Sandoval; sisters Shirley Burchett (Sonny), Nick Stacy (Patty), Laura Reeves (Greg), niece Sandy (Randy), and nephew Nicholas Stacy (Mia).

Pallbearers will be Jay Sandoval, Anthony Harvey, Jayden Harvey, and Gabriel Starling-Lykins. Honorary pallbearer will be Cecilia Stacy.

Please join the family in remembrance and prayer on the 28th of June 2022. The Rosary at 10:00 am and mass will be at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Los Alamos, NM, internment to follow at 3:00 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
