Ascension Valdez

ASCENSION MARIA VALDEZ, born September 29, 1921 and died January 2, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Silviano Martinez and Gregorita Martinez; husband, Margarito Celestio Valdez; brothers, Melaquias Martinez, Ernesto Martinez, Alfonso Martinez; sisters, Anna Maria Martinez, and Lupe Baca; sons, Jerry Valdez, Margarito Benny Valdez Jr., Robert E. Valdez and Jerry Michael Valdez. She is survived by her daughters, Mildred and Connie Valdez; brother, Fred Martinez; sisters, Josie Jaramillo and Mary Jaramillo; daughter-in-law, Angie Valdez; mother of her grandchildren, Roberta Valdez; granddaughters, Angeline Martinez (Derwin), Caroline Valdez (Fernando) and Margarita De La Rosa (Alejandreo); her little dog, Foxy and many other great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, only 40 people will be allowed inside the church. Burial to follow at the Martinez Cemetery in El Rito with the following serving as pallbearers, Mildred Valdez, Connie Valdez, Lulu Duran, Kenny Jaramillo, Leroy Jaramillo and Rex Jaramillo. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito for a mass in Ascensions honor. The family of Ascension Maria Valdez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
