Viola Romero

VIOLA M. ROMERO , a resident of Ocate, NM was peacefully welcomed into the gates of Heaven on Monday, July 6, 2020.  She was born on March 25, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Elisa Martinez; aunt whom raised her Corina Yara; in-laws, Andres and Rosauda “Vita” Romero; spouse, Ben Romero; sons, Bengie and Andy Romero; grandson, A. J. Mares, daughter-in-law, Sadie Romero, son-in-law, Larry Martinez, brothers-in-law, Gene Torres, Vicente Martinez, Don Rago, Joe Romero, John Romero, Joe Suazo, sisters-in-law, Piedad Romero, Jennie Suazo and Aurora Martinez.  Viola was employed by Angel Fire Resort for 36 years to present, during her time of employment she had many fond memories, on Wednesdays she had her special meal for her family. They all looked forward to being with grandma. She also enjoyed her hobbies which included, embroidery and crocheting. She always had something going. She was always ready to help anyone in need. Viola is survived by her children, Jimmy (Rose), Patsy (Victor), Larry, Fred (Connie), Betty, Robert (Patricia), Joseph (Jessica) and a very special cousin Vitilia Valdez of Arizona, in-laws, Tony and Nora Quintana of Espanola, Seferino and Ruby Chavez of Montana, Alice Torres of California, Stella Rago of California, and Elsie Romero of Wyoming; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Viola will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Ocate. The family of Viola M. Romero has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
