Victor M. Romero, 58, a lifelong resident of Cordova, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on January 04, 2021. Victor is preceded in death by his parents, Arsenio and Bernie Romero; brother, Candido Romero; brother-in-law, Kenny Romero; nephew, Manuel Sandoval; uncles; Tony and Willie Trujillo; and several other family members.
Victor was a kind, hardworking family man with a generous heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand; the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. A gracious, caring man by nature, he loved his family more than anything in the world. The generosity this man carried in his heart was second to none, always willing to make a new friend and share his God given talents with everyone he met. He took pride in everything he did, always completing his tasks to the best of his ability. Victor spent the majority of his career working for Zia, PANAM, JCI, JCNNM, and KSL at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Victor had a love for the outdoors, being in the mountains; fishing, hunting, horseback riding, bike riding, and camping with family and friends. He enjoyed the company of his friends who would often help him work on his vehicles and spend their evenings reminiscing on the past, but more importantly, living in the moment. The memories we shared with our beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, are moments that we will forever cherish and hold close to our hearts.
Victor is survived by his companion of 16 years Sonia Menendez; daughter, Kristi Romero (Travis); son, Randy Romero; stepson, Nicky Martinez; stepdaughter, Joselin Menendez; grandchildren; Leah Martinez, Frankie Quintana, Mariah and Samantha Brown; sisters, Bernice Romero, Eileen Rael, Cindy (Alvaro) Vigil; uncles, Joey (Toni) Trujillo, Eliseo (Yolanda) Trujillo, Johnny (Estella) Trujillo; aunt, Lillian Trujillo; godson, Zachary Vigil, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his children Shirley Montoya and best friends; Isaac and Lena Cordova, Marcos Trujillo, Porfirio (Porf) Cordova, Ronnie Serrano, Bennie Serrano, Pat Martinez, Michael Martinez (Chimayo), Roy and Royicito Romero, Jeff Sergeant, Michael F. Martinez, and many other friends and family. Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Faith Church in Espanola, with a Presbyterian Cemetery in Cordova. Honorary pallbearers are all those mentioned above. The family of Victor Romero has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
