Velma “Dee” Cartier 58, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Dee was born on September 27, 1962, in Panama City Florida, Tyndall Air Base to her parents Wayne and Nina Motah. She was an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation/Santa Clara Pueblo. Dee lived most of her youth in Santa Fe Springs California. Velma graduated from Santa Fe High Santa Fe Springs California. At the age of 18 she moved with her parents to Santa Clara Pueblo where she became a lifelong resident. Dee loved to play sports such as Volleyball, Basketball and Softball. Dee also enjoyed riding on a Harley and helped with the Toys for Tots biker run for years. Dee worked for Taxation and Revenue Department for the State of New Mexico where she made numerous lifelong friends.

Velma Dee is preceded in death by her Father Wayne E. Motah, Maternal grandparents, Lee Motah and Daisy Perdisophy Burgess of Lawton Oklahoma; Eugene and Faustina Gutierrez of Santa Clara Pueblo.

Dee is Survived by her mother Nina Motah; brothers Norman Motah and Timothy Motah; sister Mary Motah and companion Lawrence Catanach; daughter Christina Cartier and companion DJ Big Crow; sons Edward Cartier, David Moquino and companion Amy Willow and ex-son in law Michael Gomez; grandchildren Leah Martinez and Carlos Gomez; Wayne Weahkee along with companion Lorraine Tafoya and children Tahkahutsu (Wayne Weahkee Jr.), Kenneth, Alydia, K’uu -Pin, O-hah wi-e-puh; niece(s) Alisha Motah and Katie Jones along with companion John Topaum and children Orion, Abraham, Adam, Arabella, Xavier, Roger, Mattie, and Ezekiel.  Along with many beloved aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in both Oklahoma and New Mexico.
