Steven M. Griego, 34, a resident of Espanola, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020. Steven was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Eddie Trujillo Sr., Paternal grandmother, Toni Griego; uncle, Carlos Griego and his Godfather, Dan Trujillo. Steven will always be remembered by his big blue eyes and his courageous personality and charm. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Steven enjoyed accompanying his mother everywhere. Steven especially loved eating out, Steven’s favorite restaurant was Tomistas in Santa Fe, Texas Roadhouse and Crackle Barrel. Steven enjoyed spending time with his grandfather, Eddie Trujillo, grandmother, Placida Trujillo. Steven at a young age worked for his grandpa Trujillo. In time Steven was employed at Henry Valencia Auto Sales and Salazar Auto Sales and also worked with his mother selling Jewelry. Steven was a great salesperson, when people would talk to him in Spanish Steven knew what they meant. Steven loved his dogs Minnie and Jack he called him brothers. Steven is survived by his son, Angelo; mother, Yvonne Trujillo, father, Steve Griego and step-mom, Kathy; sisters, Amanda Griego and companion Todd, Samantha Griego; maternal grandmother, Placida Trujillo, paternal grandfather, Bert Greigo; and uncle, Eddie Trujillo Jr. and wife Grace and many other uncles and aunts. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Staff of St. Christus Hospice and to the nurses of wing 2231 that provided steven with their care and comfort. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Serving the family as honorary pallbearers are Eddie Lucero, Matthew Montoya, Bernie Velasquez and Todd Aragon. The family of Steven M. Griego has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
