Solomon Jaramillo, 91, born June 7, 1929. A lifelong resident of San Pedro in Espanola, NM, made his journey to heaven on April 25,2021 following a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus Maria and Marina Jaramillo of Abiquiu, NM, and his siblings Geronimo (Cedelia) Jaramillo, Sesaria (Joe) Trujillo, Arsenio Jaramillo, and Margaret Valdez, his son Kenny (Jara) Jaramillo and son-in-law Gordon Nez; father and mother-in-law, Victor and Manuelita Chavez; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Maurico (Stella), Louis (Clorinda), Simon (Lena) Chavez and Tony Gallegos. Solomon is survived by his loving beautiful wife of 70 years, Ermalinda C. Jaramillo and thier 6 children, Larry (Shirley) Jaramillo, Marlene (David) Roybal, Darlene (Rudy) Martin, Simone Nez, Marina (Jose G) Salazar, Kym (Jose) Montoya, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many nephews and nieces and extended families.
Solomon was a USAF Veteran and a retired educator with Espanola Public Schools for over 30+ years. He also retired from the charity program Save the Children. Solomon was well known and respected in the community as an active member of community organizations such as the Lion’s Club, Boy Scouts and Knights of Columbus. Solomon’s favorite past time activities included tending his beloved apple orchards, green lawns, and flower gardens.
Public viewing at the DeVargas Funeral Home will be held at 6pm on April 29th, 2021 followed by the praying of the rosary which will be prayed at 7pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Santa Cruz Parish on April 30th, 2021 at 11am with the burial to follow to Holy Cross Cemetery.
A special thanks to the Presbyterian Hospice team, Johnny Devargas and the staff at the DeVargas Funeral Home, Santa Cruz de La Canada Parish and Dexter Trujillo for reciting the rosary in honor of Solomon. Services will be live streamed via Facebook through Santacruz Espanola and on Youtube Santacruz Parish Espanola.
