Sixto Martinez

SIXTO JOSE MARTINEZ, 93, a resident of Medanales, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bencensalo and Celia Martinez; grandparents who raised him, Benina and Abelino Garcia; brothers, Frank, Abelino, Horacio; sisters, Benina and Theresa. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucy Martinez; children, Marcella Ortega (Edward Lucier) and Sixto Jacob Martinez; grandchildren, Joseph Pepo, Jesse (Sara), John (Maria) and Kathleen Ortega; 8 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Manuel, Willie and MaryAnn and other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks are mandatory and a limit of 75 people are permitted inside the building.  Santa Fe National Cemetery has a maximum of 25 people to attend the burial. Serving the family as pallbearers are Mike Size, David Martinez, John Ortega, Jesse Ortega, Joseph Ortega, and Randy Vigil, honorary pallbearers named are Archie Martinez, Ruben Martinez and Alanzo Martinez.
