Salvador Lucero, age 85, a life-long resident of Santa Cruz, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Salvador retired from the Duke City Lumber Company after 35+ years, sold the Rio Grande News Paper for 30+ years and enjoyed landscaping in the Northern area. He loved the outdoors where he spent his time hunting, going for walks with his wife and sitting on his porch enjoying nature. He also had a passion for dancing and bowling. His greatest adventures included his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who he loved dearly. Salvador was preceded in death by his by his parents, Jose & Efrin Lucero of Las Vegas N.M; brothers, Ray & Benny Lucero; son, Robert Lucero; grandsons, Pablito & Daniel Dominguez. Salvador survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dolores Lucero; children, Eloy Lucero and wife Pearl, Edward Lucero, Sr., Margarette Dominguez, Evelyn Naranjo and companion Wilfred Gonzales, & Lindy Martinez. He survived by his grandchildren, Erica Gonzales and husband Flavio, Noah Lucero, E.J Lucero and wife Jing, Jennifer Lucero and companion Kyle Cockerell, Adam Lucero, Leticia Romero and husband Keith, Eddie Lucero and wife Kimberly, Nicholas Naranjo, Tina Dominguez and companion Arthur Jimenez, Richard Horton, Victoria Martinez & Samantha Valdez. He survived by many great-grandchildren; Khristian Dominguez and companion Ricky Valdez, Angel Dominguez and companion Jason Torrez, Annika Dominguez, Kane Dominguez, Andrea Gonzales and companion Damian Roybal, Flavio Gonzales, Jr., Marisol Naranjo, Jaslynn Lopez, Savannah Romero, Trinity Lucero, Zachary Lucero, Kaleb Lucero, Stylez Naranjo, Kaiden Naranjo, Aldeanna Naranjo, Merlinda Herrera, Marcelino Herrera, Davian Herrera, Jazlyn Jimenez, Jay-Isaac Jimenez, and Javen Jimenez; three great-great-grandchildren; Alexis Valdez, Alexianna Valdez and Dominic Torrez; first cousin, Mary Archuleta and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with a memorial mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. The family of Salvador Lucero has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
