Roy Romero

d. January 5, 2020

ROY DANIEL ROMERO (ROYITO), 59, a resident of Chimayo was taken to his Heavenly home on Sunday, January 5, 2020, with his family by his side.  Roy was greeted by his loved ones who preceded him in death - his father, Avaristo; brother, Bruce; infant sister, Vivian; grandparents, Cundido and Sarita Romero and Leonires and Vivianita Lopez; and his nephews, Ronnie, Willie, Raul, Joaquin, Jesse, and Ivan.

Roy was our family’s angel, “Earth Angel”, as Mom called him.  Roy was able to speak only a few words, but he communicated the true meaning of love with his presence and touch.  His smile and hand clapping told you he was happy to see you.  The smallest attention brought him great joy and he shared that joy with you.  He had an unforgettable contagious laugh and giggle.  We believe this was when he was talking directly talking with the angels.

The entire family deeply loved and was involved with giving Roy the love and care he needed.  We believe this love is what sustained him for 59 years. At birth, his doctors predicted he would only live to about 29 years. Mom and Dad shared an even tighter and special bond with Roy throughout his life. In his final hours Roy called out “Momma, Momma, Momma” and “Ba Ba Ba” - his way of saying Goodbye. We love you, Roy, and we will miss you.  Fly with the angels in God’s presence.

He is survived by his mother, Dora; brother, Joe (Maria); sisters, Rose, Nary, Adrina (Ricky), Annabelle (Mike), Betty (Doug); sister-in-law, Cindy; nephews, Leroy, Ricky, Jonathon, Jason, Marcos, Jose, Ruben, Adam, Isaiah, and Joaquin; nieces, Jennifer, Kendra, and Esperanza; paternal aunts, Gregoria Trujillo, Agustina Romero, Rita Romero; uncle, Ramon Amaya and numerous cousins and family too many to mention but fondly acknowledged and appreciated.  Thank you, everybody, who was part of Roy’s life and also thank you to his care givers and staff at AWS who also loved and cared for Roy.
