Rosita Martinez

Rosita Martinez, lovingly known as “Grandma Rose”, 71, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 as the result of a long-term illness.  She was preceded in death by parents, Tomas and Eliza Martinez; brothers, Tommy, Albert, Jimmy and baby Jimmy; and great-grandson, Zachariah Sanchez.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all those who loved and knew her.  After 54 years together, Mrs. Martinez leaves behind the love of her life, Cornelio C. Martinez. She is also survived by her children, Lori Duran (Johnny), Ralph Martinez, Jennifer Honaberger (David) and Cornelio Martinez Jr. (Melanie); 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Rose Salazar (Leon), Joel Sanchez (Naomi), Janel Martinez, Erika Sanchez, Rafel Martinez, Savannah Duran (Larry), Kaitlyn Honaberger, Destiny Martinez, Sarah Honaberger, Joshua Honaberger and Isaiah Martinez; 8 great-grandchildren, Leon, Natalie Rose, Lareigh, Malachi, Michael, Esperanza, Adriel & Samuel; brothers, Jeffrey, Johnny, Prox & Jose; sisters, Rayitos, Lupe, Geraldine, Mary, Annie & Elena, including many other friends and family. A Devotional service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a burial to follow at El Buen Pastor Cemetery in Chimayo. The family of Rosita Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
