Ricky Cordova

RICKY ROBERT CORDOVA, 65, a resident of Truchas, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Cordelia Cordova; father-in-law, Avaristo Romero; brothers, Albert Cordova Jr., Margie Murrieta; sisters-in-law, Tina Cordova and Lillian Cordova, Brothers-in-law, Roy Romero and Bruce Romero. He is survived by his spouse Adrina Cordova; children, Ricky Jr. and daughters Monica Cordova and Jacque (David) Montoya, and great grandson Nathaniel De La Cruz; Jonathan (Hilary) and granddaughter Alyssa; and Jason Cordova and grandsons Gerald, Nathan, and Isaac; siblings, Max Cordova, William Cordova (Nena), Sammy Cordova (Sandie), Richard Cordova (Diahann), Melvin Cordova, Darlene Montoya (Mike), Christine Valdez (Karl); sister-in-law Grace Cordova and brother-in-law Roger, mother-in-law, Dora Romero; brother-in-law, Joe (Maria), sisters-in-law Rose, Nary, Betty (Doug) , and close sister-in-law Annabelle Lopez (Mike); Godchildren, Esperanza Salazar and Valerie Cordova; and Silver, his pet and constant companion who never left his side; numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.

Ricky was a generous, kind-hearted soul who loved and adored his family wholeheartedly.  He was a proud and loving grandfather and great grandfather. He was so good with children and his nieces and nephews all have fond memories of “Tio Ricky.” He was blessed to be one of ten siblings and he loved his brothers and sisters dearly. He put others needs before his own and always helped everyone.  Ricky was an avid hunter most of his life and nothing made him happier than to be in the New Mexico mountains hunting with his sons and/or brothers. Ricky loved the Lord and found comfort in reading the bible daily. Ricky was very dear to our hearts and we are going to miss him but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain and is resting in peace in Heaven. “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2

A rosary will be recited on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Truchas, with a burial to follow at the Truchas Presbyterian Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Sammy, William, Melvin, Dicky, David, and Brandon Cordova, David De La Cruz, and Jose Romero.  Honorary pall bearers are his grandchildren Jacque, Monica, Alyssa, Gerald, Nathan, Isaac, and Nathanial.  A family meal will be served after the burial at Presbyterian Christian Ed.  The family of Ricky Robert Cordova has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477-www.devargasfuneral.com
