Rebecca “Becky” Segovia , age 76, a resident of Lyden, departed this world and went home to live with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 5, 2020. Becky was born on April 22, 1943, in Vadito, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacobo and Dilia Montoya; brother, Moises Montoya; grandparents, Juan Antonio and Rebecca Romero; sons, Joe Roy and Charles Segovia and the “Segovia Twins” who passed away at birth; grandchildren, Eric Segovia, Jake “Punky” Segovia Jr., Patrick Baldonado Jr.; brothers-in-law, Tony Zamora, Albert Ortiz, and Juan Romero; nephew, Harvey Fernandez, and father of her children, Joe “Doc” Segovia. She is survived by her children, Jake (Linda) Segovia, Irene Segovia, Josefita (Clarence) Chavez, John Segovia (Matilda), Adam (Deborah) Segovia, grandchildren, Carlitos and Daniel Segovia, Angel Baldonado, Nicholas, Matthew, and Aubrey Chavez, Reyanna, Jessica, John Jr., Jolie, Barbara, Monique, Angelica, Joseph & Alex Segovia; great-grandchildren, Trinity and Serenity Baldonado, Maggie Vigil, Jordan, and Ethan Segovia; and great-great-granddaughter, Journee Segovia; brother, Gene Montoya; sisters, Helen Zamora, Adelaida Ortiz, Georgina Romero, Epimenia (Joe) Sanchez, Peggy (John) Hall; special sister-in-law, Charlotte (Alvaro) Aragonez. Becky earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 1981. She also owned and operated, in the mid-’90s, the HomeRun Pizza located in Alcalde for several years and delivered the newspaper for the Santa Fe New Mexican for over 28 years. Becky was a hard worker and had up to 3 jobs at any given time. She was also a woman of a thousand talents who loved to cook, bake, sew, embroider, crochet, and make dried arrangements and wreaths. Some of her most beautiful wreaths were displayed for many years in the Sunwest Bank Building in Espanola and the Onate Center in Alcalde.  One year she also had the privilege of sewing the outfits for the Matachines de Alcalde. She had a huge heart and always opened her home to those in need and was well known and respected throughout her community. In addition to being an amazing mother to her own children, she also served as a maternal figure and role model in the lives of many others. Cremation has taken place and services are pending at this time. The family of Becky Segovia has entrusted her care to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of Espanola Valley.
