Rayna Montoya

RAYNA WANDA MONTOYA, 43, a resident of Arroyo de Agua, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny (Juan) Cata; maternal grandparents, Medardo and Octaviana Garcia; paternal grandparents, Jose and Antonina Montoya; beloved God-father, Sergio Morfin; uncle, Medardo Garcia and her dog, Saphire. She was born on September 22, 1976 in Los Alamos to Norman and Elaiza Montoya. Rayna was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was the youngest of 6 children. Everyone that knew Rayna knew her for the loving kindhearted person she was and for her infectious smile she carried everywhere she went. Her smile was one that would light up souls. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with family. Her greatest joy was her great-nieces and great-nephews. When she was around them, she became a child again playing with them as if she was their age. She was known as aunty cakes, aunty Brayna and aunty fire by her great-nieces and great-nephews. She brought joy and laughter to many people and showed everyone how caring she was. Rayna will be remembered by the tight hugs she gave everyone and the words, I love you, as she greeted and departed from family. Her calls and text messages will be missed but her memory will forever live in people she touched with her loving ways. Ms. Montoya is survived by her son, Estevan Montoya (Brittany); parents, Norman and Elaiza Montoya; companion, Levi Herrera; brother, Stanley; sisters, Brenda, Norma and Pamela; beloved God-mother, Julia Morfin; God-daughter, Annaliyah Martinez; close cousin who was like a brother, Wilfred Vialpando; God-sisters, Karen, Loretta, Sandra, Gary, and Randy Morfin, Darlene Morfin Maestas; soul sister, Amber Day Del Pozo and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 29, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Templo Getsemani Church in Salitrar. Serving as pallbearers are Victor Salazar, Amos Martinez, Orlando Morfin, Wilfred Vialpando, Noel Vialpando, Mayo Martinez and Kayleigh Trujillo. Honorary pallbearers are Annaliyah, Annaleigh, Bentley, Caleb, Anthony Jr., and Annalissa.
