ROSEMARY VIGIL

Rosemary Vigil, a resident of Las Trampas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020. She was born on September 22, 1949 to Clarence and Bertha Vigil. She lived a beautiful life in many places, but always considered Las Trampas her home.

Rosemary had the privilege of working for the United States Forest Service, and retired after more than 30 years of public service. After retirement she continued to be of assistance to her community by serving as the Mayordoma of the San Jose de Gracia Catholic Church alongside her uncle and aunt, Jose and Minnie Lopez. Rosemary gave selflessly to others and always welcomed people, and animals, into her heart. She was a kind, generous and loving woman whose legacy will live on by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother Bobby, and her grandparents Juan Antonio and Maclovia Lopez and Eduardo and Onofre Vigil.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Janelle and Ricky-Ray Martinez, her brother Herbert (Julia) Vigil, her three nephews who were like sons to her – Jamie (Natalie) Vigil, Jon Vigil, and Justin (Amy) Vigil, along with their children Sean, Angelo, Xavier, Jenica and Brooke, her cousin Alicia Suazo who helped care for her in her time of need, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Jose de Gracia Catholic Church in Las Trampas. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. also at the San Jose de Gracia Catholic Church. A private burial will take place at a later date.

The family of Rosemary Vigil has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
