PHYLLIS C. OLIVAS, 74, a resident of Lyden, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 24, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known as a loving, kind, funny and generous person. She had one of the biggest hearts you had ever known. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Olivas Cota; parents, Manuel and Virginia Madril; in-laws, Porferio and Florentina Olivas; sister, Nellie Manzanares (Joe). Mrs. Olivas is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard B. Olivas; daughter, Paula Macias; loving mijo, Johnny Macias; daughter, Holly Olivas; grandchildren, Richard, Michael and Matthew Cota, Kaitlynn and Johnny Macias and Jude Vigil; sisters, Evelyn Montoya (Matias), Pauline Martinez (Lolo), Theresa Sanchez; brother, Manuel Madril (Vicki); sisters-in-law, Mary War (Samuel) and Lita Gurule; loving neighbors, Richard and Peggy Gonzales and Rueben and Mary LaBadie and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with a Memorial Mass to be celebrated after at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at a later date with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers, Richard, Michael and Matthew Cota, Kaitlynn and Johnny Macias and Jude Vigil. The family of Phyllis C. Olivas has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
