Pete A. Trujillo Jr., 79, of Herñandez, NM, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on February 5, 2020.

He was born to Pedro R. and Severa Trujillo in Herñandez, NM. He was the sixth of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Leroy Trujillo, Jose Luis Trujillo, Sisters; Eloisa Maes, Senoiva Padilla, Regina Barttlet, Son; Johnny S. Trujillo, Daughter in-law: Geraldine Rodarte, Grandchildren; Baby Joseph Adam and Christina J. Trujillo.

Pete A. Trujillo Jr. was an extremely talented hard working individual. He married the love of his life “Elizabeth Jane” on January 13, 1960 and was a father of ten.  He served as a Heŕmano for 57 years and was a devout Catholic donating work and materials for the construction and the up keep of the San Jose Mission and the San Francisco Moŕada. He was self-employed as a general contractor and specialized in construction and heavy equipment. He taught all his sons to be the very best heavy equipment operators and was a very protective father of his daughters, teaching all of them their religious morals and traditions. He was a jack of all trades and a perfectionist in everything he did. He loved working on the ranch and was a talented horseback rider.  He enjoyed singing, dancing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. In his younger years he was a community activist fighting to protect our water rights and to preserve our religious traditions and heritage. He worked for WP Cook, then for his son Richard P. Cook and then subcontracted with McReynolds Construction Company for many years. His hard work and accomplishments left a footprint in Northern New Mexico supporting greatness into the lives of the people he came into contact with.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him and by the Heŕmanos of the San Francisco Moŕada of El Duende.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Jane Trujillo; Children; Adela Yvonne Cordova (Gerald), Joseph Adam Trujillo, Peter E. Trujillo (Margaret), Dennis L. Trujillo (Margaret), Paul H. Trujillo (Elaine), Franciso P. Trujillo, Dana E. Martinez (Donald), Julie A. Trujillo (Albert) and Marcus R. Trujillo (Unity). Grandchildren; Gerald L. Cordova Jr. (Desiree), Joseph Cordova (Joslyn), Christella E. Cordova, Melinda Trujillo (Anthony), Steven A. Trujillo (Megan), Victoria R. Trujillo, Johnny A. Trujillo (Kristen), Lucas P. Smith, Fabian A. Smith (Venessa), Kerina L. Bustos (Leon), Obed L. Martinez, Danielle H. Martinez, Dennise M. Trujillo (Larry), Amanda J. Castillo (James), Dennis Lee. Trujillo (Sierra), Gabriella F. Trujillo, Joshua P. Trujillo, Michael A. Trujillo (Abby), Tommy Lee, Marty, Jesse Morland, Marcus P. Trujillo (Mariah), Matthew G. Trujillo (Kaitlynn), and Melachi A. Trujillo. Great grandchildren; Kenzy Cordova, Marisol Narañjo, Annelise Hooper Trujillo, Arabella Martinez, Dominic Bustos, Daniel Padilla, Lauren and Aria Trujillo, Anthony Castillo, Adrian and Miquela Trujillo. Siblings; Roseabellé Martinez (Gilbert), Clorinda Roybal (Ben), and Joe S. Trujillo (Mary Jane), and numerous other relatives and friends.

The Trujillo family would like to thank the Legacy Home Health and Hospice (Sasha Salazar-Aide, Barbara Tublo-RN, Elizabeth Castillo-Liaison, Kelli Lattimore-Social Worker, Carmen Salazar-RN, Jewel Alexander-Chaplain), all of the Heŕmanos de La Cofradia de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazarreno, family and friends and all others who provided their time and talents.

Public visitation will begin on Sunday February 9, 2020 at 6:00 pm in the San Jose Mission Catholic Church in Herñandez, NM with a rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday February 10, 2020 at 11:00 am at San Jose Mission Catholic Church in Herñandez, NM with burial to follow at San Jose Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers’; Priscilla C. Maes, Carol Ann Padilla, Amanda J. Castillo, Christella E. Cordova, Fred Garcia, and all his grand and great grandchildren.

The family of Pete A. Trujillo Jr. has entrusted the care of their beloved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477.
