Pedro (Pete) Medardo Padilla, 91, a resident of El Quique passed away peacefully at his daughters’ home in Espanola on Friday June 4, 2021. Born to Pedro and Isabel Padilla on April 18, 1930, he was one of 12 children.
Pete was proceeded in death by his loving wife Modesta (Sally) Padilla on August 30, 2017. His parents Pedro and Isabel Padilla; brothers, Manuel Padilla (Juanita), Frank Padilla (Mary), Luis Padilla (Senovia), Jose Padilla (Lousita), Evaristo Padilla (Modesta), Gary Padilla (Vickie); sisters Adella Montoya, Helen Salazar; Brothers-in-law, Railey Edmunds, William (Bill) Schutz and Napoleon Salazar.
Pete is survived by his children, Isabel Salazar (Joe I. Jr.), Dalia Mitchell (Jim), Gloria Leos, Olivia Martinez, Michael Padilla (Jeanne), Tommy Padilla (Shirley), Frankie Padilla (Jeanette).
Grandchildren, Johnny Salazar (Karen), Donna Lizaola (Ceasar), Josephine Martinez (David), Peter Salazar, Kenny Salazar (Connie), Christopher Salazar (Peggy), Denise Martinez (Nicole), Mercedes Chavez (Travis), Laura Rendon (Eric), Ashlee Adams (Clint), Alicia Rendon (Michael), Erica Trujillo (Mariano), Maria Elena “M.E.” Rendon (Brian), Andrea Gallegos (Paul), Lisa Salazar, Naomi Ulibarri (Jason), Yvonne Martinez, Erica Padilla, Michelle Padilla, Julian Padilla, Alexandra Padilla, Amy Montoya (Victor), Angela Trujillo (Luke), Jason Padilla (Joanie), Andrew Padilla (Higinia), Teresa Salazar (Martin). 53 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Pete is survived by his sisters, Edna Schutz, Ernestine Edmunds, and Lita Martinez (Berlarmino), brother-in-law Salomon Montoya.

A rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Okay Owingeh. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Okay Owingeh, with burial to follow at San Raphael Cemetery in El Guique. The family of Pete Padilla has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
