Olivia Ortiz

d. June 28, 2022

Olivia Ortiz, daughter of Patricia Trujillo-Vigil & Juan Vigil and adopted by Maclovio and Filomena Trujillo at 18 months of age after her biological mothers passing.  Olivia saw Maclovio and Filomena Trujillo as her parents and referred to Juan Vigil as her uncle growing up.  Born in Cundiyo but raised in Cordova, Olivia attended elementary and junior high in Cordova.  She graduated high school from Santa Cruz High in 1953.  Olivia was one of 2 children, brother Wilfred Trujillo.   Olivia was also very close to her biological sister Savonita Cordova even though they were not raised together.  Olivia and Art shared the same school bus in high school but never spoke or knew their fate.  After high school Art met Olivia while attending a dance.  Art asked Olivia for a first dance and it was love at first sight.  Married two years later on May 11, 1955 in Chimayo.  Art and Olivia resided in Truchas, one year later gave birth to their son, Wray Ortiz on May 24, 1956 and daughter Glenda Ortiz on January 17, 1966.   Olivia was a full-time mother and housewife caring for her special needs daughter, son and husband.  Art and Olivia dedicated much of their time caring for their special needs daughter from 1966 to 1986.  In 1974 Wray Ortiz married Therisa Ortiz who was like a daughter to both Art and Olivia.  Art and Olivia had one grandson and granddaughter, Wray and Regina Ortiz and three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Amber and Rowan whom she adored very much. Art and Olivia moved to LaMesilla where they spent the last 38 years together.  Art and Olivia also considered many others as their own: Cyndee and Julie Fresquez, Pastor Barry and Sandy Trujillo, Victor Martinez, Ramona Espinosa and Matthew and Keyana Martinez.  Olivia will be very much missed but the family finds comfort in knowing that she is in the presence of the Lord and joined by her daughter and son.   Olivia was proceeded in death by (daughter) Glenda Ortiz, (son) Wray Ortiz, (father) Maclovio Trujillo, (mother) Filomena Trujillo, (brothers) Wilfred Trujillo, Richard Vigil, Louis Vigil and Rudy Vigil and (sister) Sabina Cordova, and many other close family members.  Survived by husband Art Ortiz, daughter-in-law Therisa Ortiz, grandson Wray and Regina Ortiz, great-grandchildren Aaron, Amber and Rowan.  Services to be held at El Buen Pastor Church on Friday, July 8 at 3:00pm.
