Obituary

Mercebella Garcia, 87. Llano de San Juan.  Born May 3, 1933  to Demetrio & Alcarita Esquibel.  On November 17, 2020, God gently took her hand and lead her to her heavenly home with her Son Henry and Grandson Johnathan.  

 Mercebella was known to her family and friends as Mercy.  She was very loving, caring, spunky and feisty lady.  She was extremely independent.  She accomplished anything she set her mind to.    

 March 1, 1953 she married the love of her life, Elfido Garcia. They were best friends, partners and completed each for 67 years. Together they were blessed with three wonderful children Henry, Harold and LouAnn.  Mercy loved her family very much.  She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and great grandma.  God and her family were her priorities above all else.  

 Mercy is preceded in death by her Son Henry Garcia, Grandson Johnathan Gonzales, Parents Demetrio & Alcarita Esquibel, Brothers Juan Esquibel and Floyd Esquibel, Nephew Johnny Esquibel.  Mercy is survived by her Husband Elfido Garcia, Son Harold & Gloria Garcia, Daughter LouAnn Cordova, Grand Children Daniel & Annette Garcia , Adrian & Alexandria Garcia, Amber Kris & Matthew Martinez, Manuel  Vasquez.  Great-Grandchildren Billi Huffman, Mario Garcia, Bentley Martinez, Riley Martinez and Adrianiyah Garcia  Brothers: Leroy & Felice Esquibel, Lawrence & Modesta Esquibel , Special Cousin who was like a sister to her Ellie Martinez  Special Niece who lived with our family Jane Esquibel  as well as many other nieces, nephews and friends she loved dearly.  

 Mercy was the queen of our family.  She was one of a kind and was loved, adored and cherished by her family.  

 Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at The Suites of Rio Vista (Cabezon).  They treated her with compassion, love , dignity and respect.  We are eternally grateful for all the love shown to our mom/grandma.  We also thank the staff at DeVargas Funeral Home for the compassionate, respectful and professional treatment. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Penasco, with a burial to follow at the Llano de San Juan Cemetery.

 Pallbearers serving our beloved Mercy will be Daniel Garcia, Adrian Garcia, Matthew Martinez, Mario Garcia, Norman Esquibel, Leroy Esquibel Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will include Billi Huffman, Bentley Martinez,  Riley Martinez, Adrianiyah Garcia. The family of Mercebella Garcia has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
