Max Romero

Max Romero, 98, of Espanola, New Mexico passed away May 11, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife Genevieve Romero and his daughter Eleanor Romero.

He was an educator for over 34 years working in the Espanola School districts. In retirements he raised cattle as well as growing alfalfa for his beloved farm.

He is survived by his son Tom Romero and grandson Tommy Romero of Espanola; his daughter Maxine Romero of Espanola; son Jimmy Romero (Peggy), grandson Jimmy Romero Jr., granddaughter Melissa Johnson (Clay) and their children of Albuquerque; daughter Marlene Romero, grandchildren Fabian and Madlyn Romero of Espanola; granddaughters Angela Martinez (David) of White Rock, Rica Romero (Clyde Vigil) of Santa Fe, grandsons Jesus and Javier Naranjo of Espanola as well as many other loving family and friends.

A rosary will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, with a mass to be held at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

The family of Max Romero has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley
