MARVIN GARCIA , 54, a resident of Tierra Azul, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Marvin was born in Espanola on October 14, 1964. He loved to learn and attended Northern New Mexico College, where he earned an Associate of Arts, and a blackbelt in martial arts, of which he was very proud. He had a passion for art and was a talented woodcarver. His excitement was always evident when he talked about his work. He had a laugh that made others smile and a sometimes-mischievous nature. He loved to ride his Harley and was often seen riding around even in colder months.

Mr. Garcia is survived by his parents, Leroy and Flora Garcia of Tierra Azul; his son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Fallon Garcia of El Paso, TX; his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Gabriel Quintana of Tacoma, WA; his five grandchildren, Fernie, Alex, Madison, Michael and Jael; his brothers, Michael Garcia and Ray “Kenny” Garcia;  his sister, Kimberly Gonzales; his Madrina, Genoveva Archuleta; as well as numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Public visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Honorary pallbearers include, Phillip Trujillo, Jimmy Martsh, Johnny Salazar and Elmer Sanchez. The family of Marvin Garcia has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
