Lucia "Lucy" Romero Rivera

LUCIA “LUCY” V. ROMERO RIVERA, 92, a resident of Alcalde passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020. She was proceeded in death by her husband, George J. Romero, Sr and second husband, Rudy Rivera; her parents, Juan and Amada Vialpando; sister, Consuelo Trujillo and son, Juanito Romero. She was a faithful member of the Catholic Church, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She dedicated her much of her time to be a loving wife and mother, but also found time to work at the Disabled American Veterans and Public-School system. In her youth, she was a devout member of the La Morada de los Pachecos. Lucy was an enthusiastic outdoors woman, who loved hunting and fishing. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and loved reading her bible. She is survived by her 10 children, Leroy Vialpando and wife Sara, Jose Romero, Louise Romero, Laura Yunker, Beverly Townsend and husband Mark, Rita Coffey Bell and husband D., Rosalie Romero, George Romero, Jr. and companion Freida, Patrick Romero and wife Gail, and Grace and husband Leroy. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Serving the family as pallbearers are Anthony Gomez, Samuel Gallegos, Andrew Gallegos, Randy Montaño, Steven Gonzalez and Joe Orozco. The family would like to extend thank you to the Espanola Senior Center, Cuesta Manor, and Presbyterian Hospital for their loving care and support.
