Leonila Schwaegel

Leonila “Yolly” Schwaegel, born August 20, 1951 in Tarlac, Philippines, was united with the Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Passing peacefully surrounded by family.

She spent her life caring for children as a school bus aid for LAPS, owner of Care Free Daycare, a teacher for Busy Bee and the Ark preschools. She was a proud cook, working for Aramark catering, and opening a Filipino restaurant in the 80s. She was also President of the Northern NM Filipino-American Foundation.

Yolly was preceded in death by parents, Jose and Rufina Quiambao; Sisters, Leocadia Legaspi and Josephine Mesina; Brother, Oscar Quiambao Capulong; and Nephew; Osmar Capulong.

Yolly is survived by her husband of 44 years Joseph Schwaegel; children: James, Felipe, Ronald, Analyn, Mindy and Joel; grandchildren: Inna Quiambao, Anthony Padilla, Dylan Schwaegel, Alexia Martinez, Jaimie Quiambao and RJ Quiambao; Sisters, Ligaya Quiambao and Yolanda Emnace; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Public visitation will be held on Wednesday September 15th 2021 at 8:30am at DeVargas Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 10:30am at Holy Cross Catholic church in Santa Cruz, NM and mass will begin at 11:00am. Burial Oct, 5th at 1:30pm at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
