KENNETH “COACH” MARTINEZ, 66, a resident of Española, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Ramon (JR) and Julia Martinez; grandmother, Senida Jaramillo; father-in-law, Juan C. Martinez. He was an educator for the Española and McCurdy schools but started teaching in Peñasco. He coached all sports in Peñasco, McCurdy, Española and Los Alamos Public Schools. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Marian Martinez; son, Kenny Martinez; uncles, Ramos Jaramillo (Marlene) of California mother-in-law, Lucia Martinez; sister-in-law, Joan Castellano (Robert); brother-in-law, Donald and Terence Martinez; nieces, Leticia Masse (Dan) and Liana Castellano; special friend he considered like a daughter, Anita Rodriguez and numerous other relatives, friends, and many student athletes. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the McCurdy School Sports Memorial Gym, followed by a Memorial service at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Dixon, with a burial to follow at the 7th Day Adventist Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Kevin Hauck, Terry Hiller, Tom Lopez, Paul Mares, George Martinez, Terence Martinez, Joe McCachren, Marvin Romero, honorary pallbearers, Larry Martinez, “Coacher” Thomas McReynolds, John Thomas, Alayna Masse, Mya Romero, Veronica Garzas, Sidney Jaramillo and Alexa Jaramillo.
