Katie Kirkwood

KATIE KIRKWOOD, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Melisendro Maestas and Sinodocea Maestas; sister, Merry Noel Sayas, Jenny Gonzales, brothers, Elijio, Tony and Mel Maestas; son, Steven Duran; granddaughter, Katie Angel Duran and grandson, Mario Lopez. Katie loved everyone she could be put in a room full of standers and have a room full of friends in a short time. She was such a good example for us all and she set the bar high. She always chose the road to travel that had an iron rod on the shoulder. She had a very strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her family was first and fore most to her and any decisions were made with that thought in mind. Her wants and needs were secondary to those of her family and others. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dennis (Kirk) Kirkwood; daughter, Naomi (Russ) Goshorn and Angie (Robert) Waters. She has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will be missed by many. There will be a celebration of her life on April 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 410 Rodeo Rd, Santa Fe New Mexico. Internment to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Santa Fe.
