Josephine Garcia

JOSEPHINE T. GARCIA, 93, a resident of Espanola, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019 born the daughter of the late Benerito and Angelina Garcia. She was preceded in death by her brother Jesus Maria Garcia, sisters, Mary Garcia Lujan and husband Sostenes Marcelina Garcia Serrano and husband Seferino, Eufelia Garcia Martinez and husband Joe, and Tillie Garcia Cortez and husband Joe.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews mainly Max Martinez of Layton, Utah, Angie Romero of Santa Fe and Ella Lujan of Chili and a very special nephew Rickie Martinez whom she was very fond of. Josephine Garcia was born in Youngsville, NM on May 11, 1926, she lived in Santa Fe for a good part of her life before moving to Espanola to be closer to her family, she was very talented in many ways. Josephine liked sewing, crocheting and was an  excellent homemaker and baker. She was the kindest most generous and most loving person to all her family, relatives and friends. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. Ella Lujan would like to give her thanks and appreciation to all the staff at Taos Living Center for the good care they gave her aunt Josephine until the end of her life. Ella would also like to thank all the Staff of the Taos Home Care services (Hospice) for being so kind and considerate, Theresa, JoAnn, Julie, Dee, and Tera. Thank you all so very much and Thanks to the Staff of DeVargas Funeral Home for their professional and sensitive care of our beloved, aunt Josephine Garcia. If we have forgotten anyone we apologize. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Roman Martinez, Charles Murufo, James Montoya, Austin Serano, Christopher Serrano and Gary Lujan, honorary pallbearers are Rickie Martinez, Max Martinez, Omar Martinez, Adrian Romero, and Grace Gutierrez.
