JOSEPH ELUID MARTINEZ, 69, a resident of Espanola formerly of Abiquiu, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Guillermo Martinez, mother, Josefita Martinez-Suazo of Abiquiu; father-in-law, Willie Salazar, mother-in-law, Lucy Salazar; sister, Ymelda and husband David Garcia of Alcalde. He is survived by the love of his life, Connie Martinez of Espanola; daughters, Debbie Jaramillo (Melvyn), Jennifer Martinez and Lucina Gutierrez; grandsons, Christopher Marquez, James Marquez, Julius Jaramillo, Jesse Montoya Jr., Malachi Montoya, and Carlitos Torrez, granddaughters, Cassandra Jaramillo, Alejandra Jaramillo, Onisha Montoya, Brittney Montoya, Lucy Salazar, great granddaughters, Sophia Marquez, Neveah Garduño, great- grandson, Ronan Vigil; special cousin, Freddie Garcia of Albuquerque, (Isabelle); brothers, Max Martinez (Bob Beardsley) of Santa Fe, Billy Martinez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alice Serrano (Frank), David Salazar, Ronnie Salazar (MaryLou) and Irene Payan; special niece, Sherina Diaz of Rio Rancho whom he helped raise, nieces and nephews, David Joseph Garcia of Texas, Julianne Ingram of Rio Rancho, Ryan Martinez, and Reina Trujillo and many more nieces, nephews, friends and family; Hijados, Adela Martinez, Sidney Diaz, Joseph and Sally Martinez of Farmington and his special friend, Henry Salazar. Public Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 5: 30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 6: 30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada in Santa Cruz, with a burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Christopher Marquez, James Marquez, Jesse Montoya Jr., Malachi Montoya, Freddie Garcia, James Maestas, Henry Salazar, and Ryan Martinez.
