JOSE G. “WILLIE” SALAZAR, 87,  a resident of El Guache, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 25, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan B. and Raquel Salazar; sister, Mary Padilla (Frank), Lydia Maestas (Jake), Bernie Romero; Aurelia Lopez (Abelino); in-laws, Pedro and Beroniz Garcia, brothers-in-law; Amado, Delfin, Abelino, and Audoro Garcia.  Willie was a hardworking, dedicated man who committed himself to working on the ranch and putting in 37 years working at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He enjoyed going to Las Vegas, NV and the local casinos where he gathered with his casino buddies to play his favorite poker machine. He loved spending time at his ranch in Chama with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Salazar; children, William Salazar (Lourdes), James Salazar (companion Elaine Anaya), Debra Rodriguez, Susan Martinez; sister, Virgina Garcia; grandchildren, Lynette Salazar, Carlos Salazar, Jerry Salazar (Jennifer), Daniel Salazar, Brandon Salazar (Andrea), Jesse Herrera, Desiree Herrera, Vince Martinez and companion, Brianna Martinez, Michael Martinez and companion, Alex Martinez; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Teresa Trujillo (Armando), Ester Garcia (Pedro), Frances Garcia; brothers-in-law, Rudy Garcia (Emily), Emilio Garcia (Martha), Roy Garcia (Gerri), Johnny Garcia (Lucy) ; Plus Godchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and casino buddies. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to follow at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, with a burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Serving the family as pallbearers are Vince Martinez, Michael Martinez, Brandon Salazar, Carlos Salazar, Jesse Herrera and Enrique Salazar.
