JIMMY “JIMMITO” ROMERO , 37, a resident of Española, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Phillip Herrera; aunt, Melanie Herrera; cousin, Brian Herrera; father, Jimmy Romero, Sr.; paternal great-grandparents, Carmen and Carolina Romero; maternal great-grandparents, Conce and Fidelita Vigil, maternal great-grandparents, Juan Isidro and Carlotta Herrera; and uncle, Jeffrey Martinez. Jimmito loved being in the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. He had a contagious smile that could light up any room. He was a well-groomed man, making sure his clothes were always pressed. He had a heart made of gold, always helping anyone in need. His children meant the world to him and he loved them very much. Mr. Romero is survived by his children, Ryan, Josiah and Jazlyn Romero; raised as a daughter, Danielle Borunda; mothers of his children, Esperanza Villareal and Monica Mares; mother, Glenda “Yvette” Martinez and husband Daniel; brothers, Noel Romero and companion Grace Gallegos and Jerome Romero and companion David Romero; maternal grandmother, Donella Herrera; paternal grandmother, Helen R. Romero-Martinez; aunts and uncles, Noreen Maestas and husband Charlie, Phyllis Vargas and husband Ross, Michelle Herrera, Geraldine “Heralda” and companion Ronald, Shirley Martinez, Glenn Herrera and companion Patricia Martinez, Darren Herrera and companion Paula Garcia, Brian Herrera and companion Deserie, Benjie Martinez and companion Beverly, Eugene Martinez and companion Nancy, Henry Romero and wife Theresa and Medardo Romero and wife Bonnie; close baby cousin, Landon Amell; close cousins, Kayla Martinez, Kimberly Martinez and Amberly Trujillo, baby Averie, baby Landen; niece, Kianna Lopez; nephew, Gabriel Romero and many other cousins, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz with the following serving as pallbearers, Noel Romero, Jerome Romero, Carlos Maestas, Amberly Trujillo, Johnny Peña, Ross Vargas, Jr., Ryan Romero and Benjie Martinez. Honorary pallbearers name are; Sonny Romero, Gene Martinez, Leticia and Keith Romero, Jesse Vigil and Kevin Pacheco. The family of Jimmy “Jimmito” Romero has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
