Javier Blea

d. August 1, 2020

Javier Lorenzo Blea, age 44 of Nambe, has journeyed to his eternal rest after hearing the Lord softly whisper his name saying, come home son, I’ve missed you.  Javier fell into peaceful sleep, cradled in his wife’s  arms, secure in the knowledge that he was loved beyond measure, and would be sorely missed.  He traveled to the light led by angels, into his Father’s arms and is safely home.  Javier was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  He and Shawn were married for 5 short years yet their union gave life to two beautiful children, Phoenix Rose and Javier Brix.  Their love remained the cornerstone of their life despite challenges that blending a large family creates.

They built a marriage on the foundation of commitment while balancing struggles, leaning solely on their faith, each other, laughter, and lots of happy-chaotic chatter ringing out throughout their home.  Together they stood in the eye of the storm, dismissed adversity with resolve to carry on side by side, while facing many obstacles.  They stood strong in their conviction to let God and love lead the way as they followed in complete trust that fate had led them to where they needed to be.  Javier was quick to let Shawn know how much he loved her as he poured his heart out in sweet letters to his “Shawnzie Cakes”.  He must have known she would need those to carry her through his parting soon to come.  Fortunately, “Death is not extinguishing the light.  It is merely putting out a lamp because dawn has come. Javier was employed at the Santa Fe adult corrections facility where he was looked up to and respected by his peers.  In a recent tribute, one of his peers referred to Javier as their rock; the one they would have followed into war if need be, the one who always had their back.

He was a man of few words around those he did not know well, yet his eyes clearly spoke all that he held in his heart.  He had a passion for the art of Tin Smithing, and created pieces that brought him much pride.   Javier was an excellent cook and took pride in his skill of making wonderful meals.  He loved listening to music, but more than anything he cherished time with his family, and his children were the light of his life.  He was larger than life against the small silhouette of his babies, and their eyes gleamed with admiration for him as they smiled with a feeling of being secure in his strong arms.  He freely offered advice to his stepchildren and helped them out in any way he could, embracing his acceptance that they were one family.  He was a diehard Raider fan and proud to sport his Raider apparel in support of the team he so loved.

Javier was preceded in death by his father, Larry G. Blea; sister, Kathleen Blea; father-in-law, Gerald DeVargas.  He is survived by his wife Shawn, children Jude, Guiliana, Phoenix Rose and Javier Brix.  Stepchildren Jamie, Leah Martinez, Ryan, Ava, Alexis, and Marcus Archuleta.  His mother Maria (Fannie) Blea, niece Elizabeth Blea, brother Joseph (Lisa), and their children Lauren and Andres, Armando (Esmeralda), and brothers Adrian, and Romano (Jeanette).  Sister Francine Arguello (Frank), and their children, Antonio, Alicia and Francisco.  Sister Janice Blea, and son Jaden, Sister Hilary Gagliardi (Nick), and their children, Goddaughter Olivia, Nico and Sofia, Lisa Ortiz (Francisco).  Javier is also survived by his mother-in-law, Shirley DeVargas; uncles, Tony Blea, Jr., Rudy Blea, Rudy Martinez, and Ray Martinez.  Aunt Marcy and numerous cousins and friends.
