Jake Pacheco, 68, a life long resident of Cordova, NM passed away from a lengthy illness on Friday, February 7, 2020 surrounded by family.
Jake was a wood carver and some of his work is displayed in galleries in the small villages of Cordova and Truchas. He enjoyed caring for his parents and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Jake was proceeded in death by his parents Adonelia and Garcedon Pacheco; siblings Lorraine Barela, Irene Medina, Mida, Charlene, Teddy and Valeriano Pacheco; nieces Abigail Rodarte and Renee Medina; nephews Wally and Andrew Medina, Mark Garcia, Joey Romero, Jerome Rodarte, Donovan Pacheco and Jonathan Pacheco; close friend Ronnie Martinez.
Jake is survived by his siblings Joe Romero (Betty), Armando Pacheco (Polita), Mildred Aguilar (Louie), Pauline Garcia (Edwin), Ruth Lucero (Sammy), Brenda Sandoval (Norman) and a niece he considered like his daughter Genevieve Aguilar-Fernandez (Harvey); brother-in-laws Andy Medina and Richard Barela; sister-in-law Naomi Muniz; close cousin Bernice Ortiz from Arizona; special friends Angie and Raylene Martinez, Randy “Bear” Sandoval.
A public visitation will begin on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a devotional service to begin at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. also in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Cordova Cemetery.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Don Chris Pacheco, Patrick Barela, Derick Barela, Dylan Castillo, Loren Sandoval, Brandon Cordova, Tristin Rodarte and Genesis Fernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his nieces and nephews.
The Pacheco family would like to thank the Heart Hospital of New Mexico, Espanola Presbyterian Hospital, Good To Go taxi (Joe Velasquez) and St. Vincent Hospital. Special thanks to caregiver Ralph Panas, home visit nurses Electra and Jasmine and Fresenius Kidney Care of Espanola for all the love, patience and support.
