Helen Quintana

December 31, 1924 — August 27, 2021

Helen Quintana, a longtime resident of Los Alamos, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 27, 2021.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Joe (Paul), son Jerry, parents Miguel and Fermina Salazar to include a number of her siblings. She is survived by her children; Loretta Quintana, Kenneth Quintana, Dina Quintana (Dick Beaudoin), her sister Connie Lopez, numerous nieces, nephews, God children to include close family friends Richard and Nancy Holmes, their children Justin and Emily.

Helen was raised in Los Sauces, Colorado, a small farming community in the southern part of the state where her family grew their own crops and raised all types of livestock. She went to work in Pueblo, Colorado at the Army Depot where she met and married Joe before moving to Los Alamos in 1953. Helen was a caring mother, devoted wife, and home maker. Her third career was Paul’s most trusted business partner, traveling alongside with him conducting real estate appraisals throughout New Mexico. She had the unique ability to enter others people’s hearts and was repeatedly sought out when amongst others. Her devotion to God was demonstrated in her daily prayers, rosaries and novenas. Helen’s strength, dignity, and grace will be lovingly remembered by those who knew her.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2021, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, NM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2021, also at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, NM.  A reception will follow with burial at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  The family of Helen Quintana has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
