Gerald DeVargas

GERALD DAVID DEVARGAS , 65, originally of Española, a former resident of Denver and currently of Española, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Louise DeVargas; partner of 30 years, Michael Olsen; brother, Alfredo DeVargas; nephews, Antonio DeVargas and Adam Lujan; niece, Carmella DeVargas plus numerous loved ones. Gerald was an accomplished cosmetologist with international recognition in publications and was passionate about his work. Most of what he enjoyed doing in life was being outdoors hiking, and road trips with his loving partner. He enjoyed music, collecting art and gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. DeVargas is survived by his daughter, Shawn Blea and husband Javier; grandchildren, Jamie, Ryan, Leah, Ava, Alexis, Marcus, Phoenix Rose and Javier Brix; siblings, Ike DeVargas, Shirley Lujan (Gene), Margie Martinez (Fred), Johnny C. DeVargas, Phillip DeVargas (Bertha), Elaine Rice, Lorraine Vigil (Fidel), Pam Quihuis and Tim DeVargas and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory. The family of Gerald David DeVargas has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
