Flores Chavez

Flores Chavez, 82, of Alcalde, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2021 with her loving family by her side.  She was born on April 1, 1939.  Flores is preceded in death by her husband Frank Chavez; her son Donald Chavez; her parents Celedonio and Adela Martinez, Ruben Martinez; her sister Maria Guadalupe; her grandparents Epifania Martinez, Damacio and Nicolasa Espinoza; her father and mother in-law Frank and Frances Chavez; her in-laws Gilbert and Theresa Sanchez and Julian Chavez.

Flores is survived by her three daughters, Eppie Archuleta (Gary), Antonette Lovato (Johnny) and Francine Chavez.  She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Angelique Rodriguez (Randy), Amanda Archuleta (Andrew), Jessica Archuleta (Louie), Ricky Donald Chavez (Nadine), Mariah Chavez (Kyle), Nicole Chung (Phat), Joshua Lovato (Janell), Brandon Chavez (Nicole),  Jody Valdez, Jayme Jackson (Erik), and 17 great grandchildren.  Her sisters/brothers, Yolanda Montoya (+Tomas), Elsie and Ruben Duran. Her in-laws, Lupita Chavez, Beatrice and Leonard Abeyta, and Claudia and Joe Pallett.  Along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, Godchildren, and wonderful friends. She is also survived by someone special to heart, her puppy, Lucy.

Flores was a strong, loving and amazing woman who loved her family deeply.  She loved life and lived it to the fullest.  Flores and the love of her life, Frank, spent every moment together going camping, fishing, dancing, and traveling.  She also loved cooking and baking while he loved eating her food.  Flores retired from the State of New Mexico where she met many wonderful people.  She had a special gift of making friends wherever she went. Her favorite saying was "As long as we're going forward, we're ok".

Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the many friends and family who were part of Flores's life.  A special gratitude goes to her Doctors: Mickie Gallagher, Liza Robles, Desiree Barela, Fei Gu, Espanola Hospital, St. Vincent’s, UNM Sandoval Hospital, Fairview Pharmacy, Amber Homecare, and all those who cared for her.

Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, in Alcalde with a rosary to be prayed at 10:20 a.m. and a mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Serving the family as Pallbearers are: Ricky Donald Chavez, Brandon Chavez, Jody Valdez, Phat Chung, Joshua Lovato, Randy Rodriguez, Erik Jackson, Louie Baca and Andrew Bustos. Honorary Pallbearers are all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Godchildren.
