Felisha Barela

FELISHA BARELA , 29, a resident of Chimayo, passed away unexpectedly alongside her companion, Justice Gutierrez-Cruz on June 27,2020. Felisha was a member of the Zion Worship Center in Pojoaque as a youth leader. She was employed at Los Alamos National Labs. Felisha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary D.J. Barela, and Gilbert Barela; uncles, Dennis, Louie, Rick, and Pencho Barela; aunt, Darlene Barela; cousins, Armando and Lino Quintana, Mary and Isaac Barela (Lil Pooh), Juan Lopez (player); beloved fur baby, Angel. Felisha is survived by her parents, Felix and Michelle (Velasquez) Barela; grandmother, Rosalie Fernandez; brothers, Gordo Barela (Lynn), Gilbert Barela (Katelynn) and Carlos Velasquez; sister, Denise (Barbie) Barela; nieces, Felicity AKA My Shorty and FaithLynn AKA Mini Me Barela and Sophia Velasquez; nephew, Zane Velasquez; uncles, Ted (Clarissa), Isaac Barela and Pancho Rodriguez; aunts, Christine (Daniel) Barela, Irene Barela, Tessa Rodriguez and Lupita Fernandez; three of her precious fur babies, Magoosa, Makaveli and Pua and many loving cousins and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks are mandatory and a limit of 75 people are permitted inside the building. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Worship Center in Pojoaque. Burial to follow at Nuestra Señora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Gordo and Gilbert Barela, Carlos Velasquez, Ricky Jr. and Elias Barela, and Leroy Atencio. Honorary pallbearers named are, Felicity AKA My Shorty, Faithlynn AKA Mini Me Barela, Sophia and Zane Velasquez, Vanessa Martinez, Amanda and Monica Franco, Taleya Romero, Deanna Mendez, Luz Trujillo, Louisa Aguilar, Daniella and Denise (Barbie) Barela and Alejandro Granillo. The family of Felisha Barela has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
