Eppie F. Salazar, 79, a lifelong resident of El Guache passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 26, 2021 with his family by his side. Eppie is proceeded in death by he’s parents Epifanio and Rose Salazar, tias that raised him Juanita Babcock and Lorenzita Salazar, brother Agapito Salazar, and his paternal grandfather who also raised him, Lazaro Salazar. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Susie Salazar, his daughter and son-in-law Mildred and Benavides Garcia, grandsons Justin and Andrew Garcia, and brother Joseph Salazar, tias that raised him Aurora Archuleta and Toni Valencia, Uncle Phil “Mickey” Salazar, goddaughter Victoria Salazar, caregivers Luci Lambson, Melissa and Alison Benson, and Melanie Sandoval and many other relatives and friends.
Eppie was an avid outdoorsman his entire life who loved working on the ranch, hunting, and fishing. His grandsons were his “partners in crime” and they would take him everywhere they went. They constantly took him to the ranch to see the cows and to Colorado where he enjoyed cruising all the roads. He served in the National Guard and worked 30 years at the Los Alamos National Labs.
A rosary will be held at DeVarges Funeral Home on Sunday, May 2nd @ 5pm.
A mass with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church is on Monday, May 3rd @ 12pm.
Serving as pallbearers are Justin and Andrew Garcia, Jose Velarde, Raymond Valdez, Austin Salazar, and David Valdez. Honorary Pallbearers are Victoria Salazar, Ian and Oliva Fay, Luci Lambson, Malissa and Alison Benson, and Melanie Sandoval.
