ELOY HERRERA JR., 80, a lifelong resident of Nambe, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. He was born to Eloy and Guadalupe Herrera on May 11, 1939. Eloy was a very caring man who loved his family deeply. He always made it known how much he loved his beautiful wife and how lucky he was to have her. He enjoyed listening to music. He would listen to KDCE every day while drinking his morning cup of coffee. He was always singing songs to everyone he met. Eloy loved spending his time on the road with his friends or going on overnight road trips with his wife around the state. If it were up to him, he would have been on the road all day.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Teodolo, Jose Maria, Timmy, Sammy and Jesus Herrera; nephew, Tommy Herrera Jr.; paternal grandparents, David and Manuelita Herrera; maternal grandparents, Jose Maria and Julianita Ortiz; brother-in-law, Bobby Vigil; sister-in-law, Lorie Herrera and various uncles and aunts. Eloy is survived by his beautiful loving wife, Isabel Herrera; son, Rodney Herrera and wife Teresa; granddaughter, Juanita Garcia; daughter, Rita Lopez; grandchildren, Tabitha Lopez, Seferino Lopez and Jessica Lopez; great-grandchildren, Kailah Lopez, James Garcia, Raquel Garcia, Jakob Cordova, Kiarah Rios, Katelynn Rios and Remi Lopez; brothers, Donald and Tommy Herrera; sisters, Lydia Archuleta, Minnie Vigil, Abby Salazar and husband Phil, Shirley Hernandez and husband Charles and Julie Roberts and husband Preston; uncles, David and wife Josephine, Lorenzo and wife Emma and numerous nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Nambe with a memorial mass to be recited at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at the Nambe Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Andy Vigil and Jeff Crespin. Honorary pallbearers are, Rodney Herrera, Donald Herrera, Seferino Lopez, Jessica Lopez and Marc Romero.
