Elevi Gurule

Elevi (Gurito) Gurule age 81, from Espanola went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.  Elevi was born on January 11, 1940 in Vallecitos, NM.  He was preceeded in death by his father Joe Gurule and mother Celia Herrera; sister Claudia Giron; father-in-law Silviano Montoya and mother-in-law Esquipula Romero.  Elevi is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eva Gurule; son Randy Gurule (Colleen); daughter Lisa and husband Russell Naranjo; son Mario Gurule; grandchildren; Jessica and husband Gabriel Atencio; Devin Duran; and darling great granddaughters: Ariel and Cassie Atencio; siblings, Joe (Gudo) and Theresa Gurule, Betty Martinez, Ross and Margie Gurule, Vivian and Wayne Covert and many special nieces and nephews.

Elevi attended Espanola High School and graduated in 1959.  Where he excelled in sports.  After graduating high school he moved to California where his family life began and his career in cosmetology.  Years later he moved his family back to Espanola, NM and continued working as a cosmetologist and as an insurance agent.  As his life continued he found his passion as a healing Sovador.

Elevi enjoyed his weekly drives to his home town of Vallecitos.  He was a devout Catholic and for many years he embraced his weekly holy hour of adoration at the Sacred Heart Parish in Espanola.  Elevi was happiest when he was with his family.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, with a mass to be held at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
