ELEANOR A. LOVATO, 91, a resident of Rio Chama and formerly of Ojo Caliente, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early afternoon of Monday, June 29, 2020. Eleanor was born in Watrous, NM on September 30, 1928 to Santiago and Rosa Ulibarri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Rosa Ulibarri; husband, Pete Lovato; son, James “Jimmy” Lovato; daughter, Yolanda Lovato; son-in-law, John Maestas; sibling and their spouses, Arturo Ulibarri (Eva), Pita Ulibarri, Jimmy Ulibarri, Grace Gonzales (Albert), Enedine Korte (Johnny), Manuel Ulibarri, Felix Ulibarri (Molly) and Ida Ulibarri. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Her life brought great joy to those who knew her and she will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on forever and she will be dearly missed. Mrs. Lovato is survived by her children, Amanda Maestas of Rio Chama, Angelina Vasquez (Charles) of El Rito and Nick Lovato (Becky) of Ojo Caliente; honorary son, Paul Rivera Jr. (Judy) of Ojo Caliente; grandchildren, Leticia Roybal (William) of El Rancho, Cheyenne and Aspen Maestas of Rio Chama, Raquel Lovato of Los Alamos, Shanai Trujillo (Jody) of Ojo Caliente, Joel Joseph (Brianna) of Ojo Caliente, Kevin Vasquez of Las Vegas, Nevada, Victoria Lovato and Nicholas Lovato of Ojo Caliente and Fausto, Gracie and Rubi of Washington State; great-grandchildren, Annalea Roybal, Solomon Roybal, Tia Rianna Roybal, Mikayla Lucero, Donovan Lucero, Kaylie Joseph and Alyssa Trujillo; sister, Stella Archuleta of Albuquerque; daughter-in-law, Karen LaBonte and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks are mandatory and a limit of 75 people are permitted inside the building. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Joel Joseph, Charles Vasquez, Paul Rivera Jr., Nicholas Lovato, Solomon Roybal and Jody Trujillo. The family of Eleanor A. Lovato has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
