EVELYN MARTINEZ, 65, a resident of Chimayo passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 12, 2020. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Celina Dominguez; mother and father-in-law Sigfredo and Genoveva Martinez; sons, Daniel, James and Allen Martinez; daughter-in-law, Janice Martinez; brothers, Levi Trujillo, Floyd, Leroy, David, and Randy Dominguez; sisters, Lucille Martinez and Sandra Madrid Solis; nephews, Dennis Martinez Jr. and Earl Trujillo; and niece, Andrea Trujillo.
Evelyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and best friend. She was a joyful person who enjoyed life and most of all, cherished and adored her family. Evelyn enjoyed the outdoors including taking rides through the mountains with her husband by her side. She especially enjoyed camping with the family. She was a hard worker and worked in the casino’s all of her life therefore she enjoyed going to the casino where she could spend time and share laughs with her friends. She loved the Lord and would insist for her sister to pray with her before her sister left her home. She will be deeply missed.
Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband of fifty years, Daniel Martinez; sons, Adam and Joshua Martinez; brother, Walter Trujillo; sisters Lorraine Dominguez (Albert Torres) and Louise Jimenez (Juan); brother-in-law, Dennis Martinez; uncle Joe Trujillo (Geraldine); grandchildren, Shania Martinez (Twyla Sisneros), Adam, Marquez and Elijah Martinez; godson, Carlos Vigil and many close relatives including aunts, uncles, cousins and friends
A rosary will be recited on Saturday march 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home and crematory. DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory has adapted our services to follow the guidelines and mandates issued by New Mexico’s Governor, the Centers for Disease Control and health professionals that services will now be limited to immediate family and close friends of 50 people or fewer.
