Dora Martinez

DORA MARTINEZ, 83, a resident of Chimayo, passed away of a sudden illness with her loving family at her side on Sunday, October 13, 2019.  Dora was preceded in death by her mother, Francisquita Martinez; children, Harold, Halbert and Harry  Martinez, Evangeline Madrid and companion Gilbert Barrela; father of her children, Horacio Martinez; siblings, Jose Onesimo, Vincente, Amadeo, Sabino, Virginia, Veronica, Tridad, Carmen, Estefanita, Sinforosa, Odilia and Rosenda; grandson, Danny Pacheco; in-laws, Rebecca and Fernando Martinez. Dora was the matriarch of her family.

She loved and cared for her family and supported them in any way she could. She always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. She loved to tell stories and joke around with friends and family. She was known for her feisty sense of humor. She will be missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Dora is survived by her daughter, Doris Pacheco (Danny); daughters-in-law, Carlota and Lucille Martinez; grandchildren, Leon Martinez (Shannon), Erica Martinez (Kevin), Andrea Madrid, Dwight Jaramillo, Frieda Martinez, Jonathan Martinez, Dora Pacheco, Lorencita Martinez, Francesquita Martinez and Halbert Antonio Martinez; great-grandchildren, Simon, Amor, Janiyah, Indykah, Amy, Evangeline, Leondro, Nicholas, Noah, Luke, Jordynn, Jazlynn, Josiah, Tatyanna, Baby Marcos, great-great-grandchildren, Lyle, Avery; sisters, Christina Padilla (Ricardo), Flora and Candy Martinez.

Public visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish in Chimayo with a burial to follow at Nuestra Señora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo.

Serving the family as pallbearers are Dwight and Simon Jaramillo, Jonathan Martinez, Leon Martinez, Marvin Martinez, and Noel Martinez, honorary pallbearers named are James Martinez, and Rupert Padilla.
