DONELIA “DONNA” ROMERO JIMENEZ, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Santa Fe. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Catalino Jimenez; son, Richard Jimenez; parents, Canuto and Marcelina Romero; brothers, Frank, Otoniel and Juan Romero; sisters, Mary Sanders Corral, Felipa Romero Valdez, and Rose Romero Martinez; brothers-in-law, Louis Sanders, Valentin Valdez, and Vicente Martinez Jr. and her sister-in-law, Josie Baca Romero. Donna was born on April 15, 1933 in Nambe to Canuto Romero and Marcelina Salazar Romero. She was raised with a strong work ethic, which was apparent while working with the Pojoaque Valley Schools where she was a cook for many years. Donna had a strong Catholic faith with a daily devotion to the Holy Rosary and always encouraged those she loved to remember their faith. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Catalino Jimenez and together they raised one son, Richard, who provided companionship after the passing of his father until his death in 2015. Donna had a heart of gold, always showing unconditional love to her family and friends and those close to her. She will be deeply missed. Donna is survived by her brother, Ruben Romero and his wife Kathy Rivera Romero; nephew, Gary Ortiz and wife Alba of the home; brother-in-law, Ranulfo Corral, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Public visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe in Pojoaque followed by burial in Nambe. The family of Donelia “Donna” Romero Jimenez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
