David L. Garcia, 74, a resident of Ranchitos, NM passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019. David was born on April 17, 1945 in San Pedro, NM to Vicente and Amada Garcia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente Garcia and Amada P. Garcia (Pacheco); maternal grandparents, Pedro Pacheco and Maria Pacheco (Barela); paternal grandparents, Salomon and Refugio Garcia; Maternal uncle /padrino, Joe Pacheco; Maternal aunt, Aubrora (Dora) P. Trujillo; brothers, Salomon Garcia and Elmer Garcia; nephews, John Martinez and Eric Archuleta; and son-in-law Max A. Lucero, Jr.

David was a retired employee of the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he worked as an electrical technician. He enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors and in his youth spent many days hiking and soaking in the hot springs in the Jemez Mountains. He was a brilliant individual who could fix anything and built his home in Ranchitos with his own hands and the help of his family. He always wanted to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help. He loved landscaping his yard, enjoyed spending time with his family any chance he got, and felt his greatest joy caring for his beloved dog, Buddy. David had a strong sense of compassion for those who were hurting and always lent an ear and a word of counsel to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, cared for him and loved him.

David was a loving & caring father to his children, Samuel A. Garcia (Maria) and Linda M. Garcia-Lucero. He was a proud grandfather who loved his grandchildren Luvina R. Lucero, Laetitia M. Lucero, Luke S. Garcia, Dominique M. Lucero, Maxine S. Lucero and grandchildren, Natalie L. Green (Stephen) and Christopher J. Trujillo, and great-grandchildren, Simon and Roslynn Green. He was loved by his sisters, Mary Bustos (Larquin), Angie Garcia, Pauline Duncan (Delmar), Theresa Garcia (Michael), Gloria Archuleta (Dan), Evelyn Martinez (Andy) and his sister-in-law, Yolanda Garcia. He is also survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children Isabell C. Archuleta (Donald) and his many nieces and nephews, Leonard Bustos, Luella Moe (Bustos), Vincent Garcia, Jacqueline McCubbins (Lawrence), Daniel Garcia (Michelle), Aaron Archuleta (Elizabeth), Charles Garcia, Andy Martinez, AnnaMarie Allen (Kenneth), Jeff Martinez, Robert Garcia, Yolanda Garcia and Elmer Garcia. David also had an abundance of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved very much.

Public visitation will begin Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a wake service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at El Buen Pastor Church in Espanola, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Vincent Garcia, Daniel Garcia, Elmer Garcia, Christopher Trujillo, Luke Garcia and Dylan Garcia. David’s grandchildren, brother’s-in-law, nieces and nephews will be serving as honorary pallbearers. The family of David L.
