Daniel Martinez

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel “Louie” Martinez after a brief illness.  Louie was a resident of Gallina and transitioned from the arms of his loving family to enter the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Rosita Martinez. Louie was the youngest of eight children and is survived by his siblings, Epifano Martinez, David Martinez, Filiberto (Laverne) Martinez, Jake (Geraldine) Martinez, Donald Martinez, Lydia (Larry) Velasquez, Tommy Martinez and Annie (Orlando) Winchell.   Louie is survived by 13 nephews and nieces and many other relatives. He worked in the oil fields during his adult years.  Louie was quiet and had a gentle soul and endured life’s hardships without ever complaining.  He enjoyed his time alone in nature and working outdoors with his hands.  Louie truly lived life to the fullest, through simple pleasures, which were: spending time with family and friends, reading his lowrider automobile magazines, working on his vehicles and listening to Bob Seger music. Louie’s life on earth has come to an end and our world is shattered. We know next time we see him; we will never have to say goodbye to him again.  Rest in peace “baby brother” we love you. Public visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Templo Getsemani Assembly of God in Salitrar with a Devotional Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. also at Templo Getsemani Assembly of God in Salitrar with a burial to follow at the Gallina Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are, Epifano Martinez, David Martinez, Filiberto Martinez, Jake Martinez, Donald Martinez, and Tommy Martinez. Honorary pallbearer will be, Arthur “Tuti” Arellano. The family of Daniel “Louie” Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
