DANIEL (DANNY) MARTINEZ, 53, began his journey with our Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Danny was a special child born to Irene and Clarence, Sr. on October 2, 1967. He was a very special brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend. The Lord blessed us with Danny for 53 years and was a gentle soul who had many family and friends all around him who cared about him. He would easily make friends no matter where he was at. Danny was very well known in his neighborhood by every one who lived there. You could always expect a cool wave of his hand while walking on the street in his color full jacket or vest that he had on. Danny loved to plant jalapenos in the spring along with tomatoes and shared them with his family. He loved working with wood and made many beautiful things. He loved having tools on hand even if he didn’t need them. Danny loved being around big machinery like graders, tractors, etc. His greatest pride and joy were his nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews. He loved them dearly and would to anything for them. Upon Christmas time he loved decorating the yard with lights and other decorations. His love for life was strong. No matter what would come his way, he always over come it whole heartly. That was our Danny! He loved going for rides with family or friends. His favorite food was, you guessed it, Hamburgers. Boy did he love them! Danny will always be in our hearts, and his memory will always be cherished by us forever. In heaven, Danny rejoins with his mom, Irene; sister, Mildred; brother, Jose Eugenio, nephew, Dominic; grandparents, Jose and Rosa Archuleta, Jose and Rosa Martinez; brother-in-law, Pablo Jr., greets him happily at the gates of heaven, plus other family members. Danny leaves behind his father, Clarence Sr., brothers, Clarence Jr., (LouAnn); Richard (Marlene) and Raymond; sisters, Geraldine, Rosie and Tammie (Patrick); nieces/nephews, Michael (Melissa), Johnny, Matias (Markisha), Jonathan, David (Tara) Shawn, Justin (Cheyenne), David (Erica), Gabriel, Latisha (Tom), Nadine, Shanaya (Darrom), Miranda, Jennifer (Cory), great-nieces and nephews, Miquella, Kayleena, Jordyn, Lugarda, Delylah, Jalina, Alianna, Zuri, Ethan, and Justin; uncles and aunts, Leo, Vinenta Martinez, Martha Archuleta, Mary Martha Sanchez-Archuleta and God sister, Elaine Martinez. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions services are for immediate family only.  Serving the family as pallbearers are Michael Martinez, Matias Martinez, Shawn Herrera, Justin Martinez, Jonathan Martinez and Johnny Valdez, honorary pallbearers are, Clyde Vigil, Greg Cassler, Jimmy and Michael Sandoval, and all his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.  The family of Daniel (Danny) Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477.www.devargasfuneral.com
