Cornelia DeAguero

d. December 30, 2019

Cornelia Alicia DeAguero, a life-long resident of Cuartelez, went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 30, 2019. Cornelia (Cornie) was a strong and loving woman who brought joy and comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Cornelia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elifar DeAguero; parents, Antonio Quintana, Marcella Martinez, Luisa and Cecilio Esquibel; brother, Isidoro Quintana; sisters, Estolia Martinez and Lucy Quintana, parents-in-law, Florentino DeAguero and Juanita Montoya, brothers-in-law, Joe Martinez, Sam Romero, Carmen Trujillo, Alfonso Padilla, Epifanio Velarde, and Melcore Fernandez; sisters-in-law, Gloria Trujillo, Prescilla Padilla, and Anita Fernandez; son, Michael DeAguero; grandchildren, baby Michael DeAguero, and baby Kaycee Pippin.

Cornelia was the “corazon” of the beautiful family she raised. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Throughout all her days, she lived as a remarkable woman who loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself. Her family was her priority and she would go to the ends of the earth to make sure everyone was fed, loved, and comfortable.  Cornelia loved her mothering role so much that not only did she take care of her seven children and thirteen grand babies; she also cared for several others totaling over thirty children.

Cornelia and her husband Elifar lived a life filled with love, happiness, and blessings.  When you saw one, the other was never far away. Some of their favorite days were spent going to the Santuario de Chimayo to attend the outdoor services listening to the sound of the river in the background.  Cornelia also loved the days filled with eating out at her favorite restaurants, vacationing in Las Vegas, NV, and sitting at her favored slot machines throughout the various casinos in NM.

Mrs. DeAguero is survived by her children; David DeAguero (Martha), Janet Silva (Julian), Judy Pippin (Bryon), Marsha DeAguero, Sixto DeAguero, Jr. (Violet), and Tony DeAguero (Soraida); grandchildren, Davy DeAguero, Jerome DeAguero, Derrick Martinez, Ryan Silva, Nicole Gallegos, Christopher Gallegos, Alex DeAguero, Samantha DeAguero, Haley Pippin, Savanah DeAguero, BranDee DeAguero, Branden DeAguero and Jacob DeAguero; sisters, Francis Quintana, Angie Romero,  Esperanza Bachman, Lorraine Archuleta (Jerry), Julian Quintana (Hazel), and Albert Quintana; caregiver, Ida Espinoza, sister-in law, Terecina Velarde and Benilde DeAguero (Arturo Chavez), and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed, but is now in the hands of the Lord and rejoicing with all her family who greeted her with open arms. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at la Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada Church in Santa Cruz with a memorial mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers, Davy DeAguero, Jerome DeAguero, Derrick Martinez, Ryan Silva, Christopher Gallegos, and Alex DeAguero.  Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren; Nicole Gallegos, Samantha DeAguero, Haley Pippin, Savanah DeAguero, Brandee DeAguero, Branden DeAguero, and Jacob DeAguero. The family of Cornelia Alicia DeAguero has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of Espanola Valley.
