Obituary

Christine Sue Vigil-Ornelas of Santa Fe (raised in Espanola) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on July 3, 2021 at age 49, following a short illness. She was born to Dolores Padilla-Diaz and Chris “Foro” Vigil on August 23, 1971. After graduating from high school, Christine met her husband, Domingo Ornelas. Together, they had 5 children and 2 granddaughters. Christine graduated from Bible College and Co-Pastored along-side her husband Domingo at their Church that they co-founded, Casa Del Alfarero in Santa Fe, NM. She was also Domingo right hand partner in their company “Tres-Batitos Concrete,” in which she was the Bookkeeper, Accountant, Tax Preparer, and laborer (many times as needed). Her passion was her love for God, as she was the First Lady at Casa Del Alfarero she also headed the Women’s Ministry. Christine Evangelized anywhere and everywhere that she went. Even in her final days she was spreading the word of God to the hospital staff members. She praised and worshiped God by playing the piano and singing. Christine loved going camping with family and friends, amusement parks, and traveling whenever she had the chance. Christine was preceded in death by her father Chris “Foro” Vigil, a brother Kevin Vigil, father in law Salome Ornelas, her grandson Jeremiah Ornelas, her maternal grandparents Joe & Luisa Padilla, paternal grandparents Pablo & Rosario Vigil. Aunts and Uncles Polly, Panchito, Levi, Damian Vigil, Lourdes Padilla-Maestas, Donna Padilla-Abeyta, Ricky and Leonard Padilla. Christine is survived by her husband Domingo and children, Diego (Gayle), Marcos, Diana, Angelica, Jonathon Ornelas and 2 grand-daughters. She is also survived by her mother and stepfather Ruben and Dolores Diaz, sister, Adrianna Vigil and brother, Juanito Marquez (Bonita). Mother in law Petronila Garcia-Ornelas. Brothers and sister in laws Celia (Luis), Celsa (Javier), Patricia, Rosendo (Amelia), Joaquin (Sandra), and Jesus Ornelas. Aunts and Uncles Include: Bernie Vigil, God-Parents Mary & Ted Romero, Edna (Regino) Salazar, Manuelita (Jose), Ross (Vicky), Fabian (Christine), Nelson, Eddie, & Ronnie Padilla. Maryann Deaguero, Dorothy Martinez, Irene, Lola, and Nancy Vigil. Christine had many nephews and nieces whom she cherished, numerous cousins and last but not least her church family. Services are as follows: Viewing is open to the public beginning at 8 am on Friday, 7/9/2021 at DeVargas Funeral Home and a Memorial Service beginning at 6 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home 623 N. Railroad Avenue, Espanola, NM. Burial will take place on Saturday 7/10/2021, service will begin at DeVargas Funeral Home at 1 pm; burial to follow at San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Hernandez, NM at 3 pm, serving as Pallbearers are: Diego, Marcos, Jonathon, Jesus Ornelas, Nick Vigil, Juanito Marquez.
