Carl Manzanares

d. March 14, 2021

Carl Manzanares was born on March 17th, 1985. Carl proudly served as an inspector for the New Mexico Livestock board for seven years. He was what many considered, “One hell of a Cowboy”. He possessed many skills ranging from welding to heavy equipment operation, but he was most at home on horseback chasing anything that was wild. Carl utilized his skills and worked in multiple states including Texas, Colorado, and North Dakota. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, rancher, and farmer. He loved to laugh and share a good joke, which is why many instantly fell in love with his sense of humor and friendly nature.  The deep love for his family and friends was reflected with his morning ritual of drinking coffee with his grandmothers and always being there to lend a hand when someone called.  Carl was respected in the Roping and Rodeo Arena and when he showed up you could count on him to be extremely competitive. He had a true love for the youth and was always more than willing to teach young inspiring cowboys the ways of horse training and roping. He would always voice his opinion stating, “it was most important that they be good outside the arena as well as inside”. Carl will be dearly missed by all, but we can rest assured that he is now riding the range with his boy Rowyn.

Carl was preceded in death by his son Rowyn Manzanares, Grandfathers Tony J. Manzanares and Victor Salazar, and his beloved Uncle, Lester Salazar. He is survived by his father and mother, Carlos and Debbie Manzanares, his brothers Juan Jose “JJ” Manzanares and fiancé Brandi Darby and Michael and Cortney Manzanares. Grandmothers Natividad Manzanares and Agripina Salazar. Nephews Tony Manzanares, Pacen Manzanares, and Chance Clark, Niece, Maryssa Martin. Pallbearers include Luis Martinez, Duwayne Shahan, Randy Baxstrom, Bobby Tainter, Nick Leyba, and Jessica Toya. Honorary pallbearers include Johnny Jed Skeleton, Gary Mora, Emerson Romero, Thomas Griego and Sonny Lucero.
