Bersa "Bertha" Gonzales

d. May 2, 2022

Bersa (Bertha) Gonzales, surrounded by her family, was called to her forever home in paradise with our Heavenly Father on May 2, 2022. She was born on February 7, 1947 to Eloy and Fedelina Gonzales in Embudo and a lifetime resident of Dixon, NM. Bertha was a faithful Christian and a member of the Apostolic Praise Temple in Dixon. Bertha loved being around her family as they meant the most to her especially her granddaughters. She loved them unconditionally.

She was surrounded by many people who loved her – a true testament to a life well lived. Bertha, a beautiful daughter, dedicated mother, caring nana, loyal sister, and faithful friend will be missed by many. We will miss her conversations, her laughter, and her true and faithful spirit. We will remember her with the same love that she gave to us all every day of her life and in that, we will find peace.

She was met at the gates of Heaven by her parents Eloy and Fedelina Gonzales; siblings Eloy Gonzales Jr., Prescilla Gonzales, Helen Griego and many other relatives.

She is survived by her only daughter who she loved dearly Vivica Valdez, son-in-law Joseph Valdez from Ojo Caliente, granddaughters Moment, Serenity, Gabriella and step granddaughter Cheyanne. Siblings; Ofelia Gonzales, Elva Romero (Ernesto), Lupita Romero (Joe) and Ruby Gonzales. A special niece who she loved dearly Chantelle Medina (Chris).

She is survived by many nephews and nieces, cousins and other relatives.

The Valdez/Gonzales family would like to give thanks to Almighty God for the blessing of having our beloved mother, nana, sister and friend.

We extend our appreciation and gratitude to all our family and friends for your prayers, generosity, and being with us through this difficult time in our lives. A sincere thank you to Pastor JD Miera-Martinez (Sister Geneva) and Pastor Salomon Sanchez (sister Velma), Julio Alcala for reading the eulogy, DeVargas Funeral Home staff, and Compassus Hospice staff for the care provided for our beloved Bertha.

Bertha is being honored by being carried to her final resting place by Adelmo Lopez, Edward Martinez, Joe Romero, Jimmy Romero, Chris and Randy Reynolds. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and special niece.

A private memorial service will be celebrated for Bertha's immediate family.
